Collier County is located in southwest Florida, on the Gulf coast. It is part of the Naples-Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county has a total area of 2,305 square miles, with 1,998 square miles of land and 307 square miles of water. It is bordered by Lee County to the northwest, Hendry County to the north, Miami-Dade County to the southeast, and Monroe County to the south. A large portion of the southeastern part of the county lies within the Big Cypress National Preserve. The northernmost part of Everglades National Park also extends into the southern coastal area of Collier County. 

Demographics 

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Collier County had a population of 375,752, an increase of 16.9% since 2010. The racial makeup was 83.4% White, 7.6% Black or African American, 1.8% Asian, 0.4% Native American, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 6.7% from other races. Additionally, 28.3% were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Major hurricanes that have impacted Collier County include Hurricane Donna in 1960, Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Hurricane Wilma in 2005, and Hurricane Irma in 2017, which caused widespread damage and power outages.
