Escambia County, Florida

Escambia County is located in the northwestern corner of Florida, bordering Alabama. It is the westernmost county in the state. The county has a total area of 875 square miles, with 656 square miles of land and 218 square miles (25%) of water. The county seat and largest city is Pensacola. 

Demographics 

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Escambia County had a population of 321,905. The racial makeup was 67.5% White, 22.6% Black or African American, 3.6% Asian, 0.9% Native American, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 5.3% from other races. Additionally, 7.7% were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Escambia County has a humid subtropical climate, with long, hot summers and short, mild winters. Average highs are around 90°F in July, and average lows are around 45°F in January. Major hurricanes that have impacted Escambia County include Hurricane Ivan in 2004, Hurricane Dennis in 2005, and Hurricane Sally in 2020, which caused widespread damage and flooding.
