Lake County is located in central Florida, northwest of Orlando. It has a total area of 1,157 square miles, with 938 square miles of land and 219 square miles (18.9%) of water. Lake County is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metropolitan area. It is bordered by Marion County to the west, Volusia County to the east, Orange and Seminole counties to the southeast, Osceola County to the south, and Sumter and Polk counties to the southwest.

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Lake County had a population of 383,956. The racial makeup was 70.16% White, 24.35% Black or African American, and 5.48% other races. Additionally, 24.1% of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race. The 2024 estimated population for Lake County is 438,834, with a growth rate of 13.62% since 2020.
