Lee County is located in southwest Florida, on the Gulf Coast. It has a total area of 1,212 square miles, with 785 square miles of land and 428 square miles (35.3%) of water. Lee County is part of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers-Naples metropolitan area. It is bordered by Charlotte County to the north, Hendry County to the east, Collier County to the south, and the Gulf of Mexico to the west. 

Demographics 

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Lee County had a population of 760,822. The racial makeup was 78.5% White, 9.3% Black or African American, 3.1% Asian, 0.5% Native American, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 8.5% from other races or two or more races. Additionally, 19.6% were Hispanic or Latino of any race. The 2024 estimated population for Lee County is 846,755, with a growth rate of 1.46% from 2023.

Major hurricanes that have impacted Lee County include Hurricane Donna in 1960, Hurricane Charley in 2004, Hurricane Wilma in 2005, and Hurricane Irma in 2017.
