Manatee County is located on the west coast of Florida, part of the North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota metropolitan area. It has a total area of 893 square miles, with 743 square miles of land and 150 square miles (16.8%) of water. Manatee County is bordered by Hillsborough County to the north, Polk and Hardee counties to the east, DeSoto County to the southeast, Sarasota County to the south, and the Gulf of Mexico to the west. 

Demographics 

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Manatee County had a population of 399,710. The racial makeup was 83.1% White, 10.1% Black or African American, 3.4% Asian, 0.3% Native American, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 3.0% from other races or two or more races. Additionally, 16.9% were Hispanic or Latino of any race. The 2024 estimated population for Manatee County is 411,253, with a growth rate of 2.9% since 2020.

Manatee County has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. Average highs are around 90°F in July, and average lows are around 55°F in January.
