Okaloosa County is located in the northwestern part of Florida, along the Gulf of Mexico. It has a total area of 1,082 square miles, with 935 square miles of land and 147 square miles (13.6%) of water. Okaloosa County is bordered by Walton County to the east, Santa Rosa County to the west, Covington and Escambia counties in Alabama to the north, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south.

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Okaloosa County had a population of 211,672. The racial makeup was 79.9% White, 9.9% Black or African American, 4.1% Asian, 1.1% Native American, 0.2% Pacific Islander, and 4.8% from other races or two or more races. Additionally, 8.4% were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
